This time out I decided to do a loose pencil sketch to work on top of which was actually great fun.

I usually just start swacking away with washes, but I had the germ of an idea before I sat down to paint today and this was the result. A mixture of cerulean blue and burnt sienna with a few touches of ultramarine blue and chinese white make up today’s palette.

I’ve been seeking my next big illustration contract job in the wake of completing my latest batch of assignments.

Let this be a cautionary tale to folks, never consider yourself too busy to continually seek new projects.

You end up with dead spots in your schedule that you must then seek to fill.

This is Business 101 stuff, but I let it happen to me.

I let myself think that ” something will come in before this job is finished”.

Usually this is true, but it is a gamble that one occasionally loses money on.

I’m focusing on cover art and card art for the moment.

I’ve been having too much fun painting to put the hairy sticks and colored mud away.
